Even more fun can be had here and here and here.

Becky's thoughts (random at best): In my review of Alice in Wonderland I said Tenniel was the best. And I mean it. Mostly. But I love. Read that LOVE. Or even love, love, love looking at Alice illustrations as art. It's just when it comes to reading the book in itself, the pictures in the margins I want to see are Tenniels. But I do appreciate the imaginative and creative genius of other artists.

Much as I like the 19th century flavor of Tenniel and others, I have to admit I turned into a great big Oxenbury fan the moment I saw her rendition. I'm going to look into the Zwerger edition, though -- I'm crazy about some of her other work.

Sarah, I haven't seen the Oxenbury book in person. But I was drawn to that illustration. I'll have to look for it in the future. :)

You don't have my favorite :( I love Arthur Rackham's illustrations for Alice I also recently read it illustrated by Ralph Steadman and those were really cool too! You should check them out!

Chris, I looked for the Rackham when I was originally posting, but apparently didn't look hard enough. I'll *edit* the original post and share the link here.

I love the second one you posted--Marjorie Torrey. Although, my very own copy, given to me on my 9th birthday is illustrated by John Tenniel and those are the ones I always associate with Alice!

Only Tenniel. Ever.

I've always loved the Tenniel illustrations, probably since those were in the first edition my father read to us as kids. But I appreciate the Zwerger because she is one of the only ones who depicts Alice with dark hair, which it was in the story. Why do so many show her as a blond? She wasn't blond.

The Tenniel is the black and white one? I like the one three above that one, with a lot of gold/beige in it and a lot going on above Alice.

I like the Majorie Torrey one and the Jessie Wilcox Smith ones best. I can't get my head round Alice with brown hair!

I really like the Arthur Rackham, Angel Dominguez and John Tenniel ones best out of the pictures above. Such a great range of different types of Alice, very cool.
