On the other hand, I have totally been trying to space out reading her books! I don't love them all equally, but even a bad one by her standards generally succeeds in keeping me involved and interested.Mrs. Nhttp://www.betweenthesepages.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33553028.post-73863595299702641582010-08-14T21:18:02.135-05:002010-08-14T21:18:02.135-05:00The Book Chook, I agree that Frederica is a great ...The Book Chook, I agree that Frederica is a great book. I really loved that one.

Mrs. N. I haven't read The Unknown Ajax yet. But I agree that every once in a while Heyer disappoints. Not in a what-an-awful-awful book way. But this-isn't-as-good-as-such-and-such...way. Heyer--to me--like Sarah Dessen is an author whose "worst" books are still often better than others.

And I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Devil's Cub. I loved it MORE than These Old Shades too!Beckyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00793618692608823102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33553028.post-57522183072710798652010-08-14T19:02:17.279-05:002010-08-14T19:02:17.279-05:00I love Georgette Heyer, but I feel like every once...I love Georgette Heyer, but I feel like every once in awhile I get one that's a let down. I most recently read The Unknown Ajax and did not love it.

I preferred Devil's Cub to These Old Shades.

I agree that Frederica is great, as is The Grand SophyMrs. Nhttp://www.betweenthesepages.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33553028.post-24753408183167066482010-08-14T16:49:52.546-05:002010-08-14T16:49:52.546-05:00Emily, I agree with Becky. If you can't find it, another one with a delightfully strong heroine and wonderful cast of characters is Frederica.BookChookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06230711251425187241noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33553028.post-79832108588758091472010-08-14T10:00:24.205-05:002010-08-14T10:00:24.205-05:00The Book Chook, I agree! She seemed so childish, so immature, so not ready to be married.

Emily, I would probably recommend Devil's Cub next. That one is very enjoyable--and you'll see some of the characters from These Old Shades.Beckyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00793618692608823102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33553028.post-32264565362926827392010-08-14T09:52:43.080-05:002010-08-14T09:52:43.080-05:00I am currently reading my first Heyer, I chose &qu...I am currently reading my first Heyer, I chose "Those Old Shades" and I am impressed by how much I am enjoying it considering it was published in 1926, what would you recommend next?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33553028.post-28373695255314402712010-08-14T04:32:46.241-05:002010-08-14T04:32:46.241-05:00It's not one of my favourites either.
