Poetry Friday: Squirrel and Sloth

Today I'm sharing 2 poems from the book ANIMAL EXERCISES: POEMS TO KEEP FIT by Mandy Ross.

Squirrel

I'll dig a little hole
For a conker or a nut.
I'll remember where I put it,
I'm sure I will...but...

Digging here beneath this tree,
Searching for a nut.
I thought I left one buried here.
I'm sure I did...but...

I'll dig another little hole
For just another little nut.
I'll remember where I put it,
I'm sure I will...but...

Digging here beneath this tree,
Searching for a nut.
I thought I left one buried here.
I'm sure I did...but...

Sloth

This you wake me up to ask?
Did I hear you right?
The best exercise? For sloths?
Yaww-ww-n! Good night!
Zzzzzzzzzzzz.........

Round up this week is at The Well Read Child.

  2. I'm definitely being a sloth today! I'm conserving my energy to stay up all night reading Breaking Dawn!

  3. I have a squirrel who seems to think it left something in a pot underneath my African Violet. It has dug it out FOUR times. I am finally giving up. The small rodent wins for sheer perseverance.
