But with the recent trend of taking classics (cough, cough Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) and adding horror elements (zombies, vampires, sea monsters, etc.), I've been thinking it would be fun to do the opposite. Take well-known horror books and twist them about.
Like turning Frankenstein into a romance, adding a Beauty and the Beast element to it. Creating a heroine that could love the monster for who he is. I don't know what this says about me, that I think love could turn things around here, but I think he deserves a chance at happiness.
I wish there were a few YA authors out there willing to have some fun with Frankenstein.

Sounds like you've thrown down the gauntlet! Hope some imaginative author picks it up.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great idea! I would love a book like this!
ReplyDeleteThere could be tons of ways to rewrite Frankenstein, there are a ton of untold stories in that book. I'd love to see more with Victor and his wife -- that might be a good story.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! YOU should go for it - why let someone else make their millions? :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like the next big twist on YA fiction! I'm excited to see you write it. ;)
ReplyDeleteI think that sounded like a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThat would be interesting!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea. It makes much more sense to me than the other trend.
