It wouldn't be exaggerating to say I've got too many books started this week. I am a little over 400 pages in Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. I have a little less than a week to finish this one for the Classics Circuit Blog Tour--my tour date is June 29th! I am a little over 500 pages in Wilkie Collin's Armadale. Collins is a bit more enjoyable than Tolstoy--I admit. Less philosophy, less mowing make for a more enjoyable read. In my opinion. I am a little over 200 pages in These Is My Words by Nancy Turner. To say this one is intense is a bit of an understatement--within the first twenty-one pages tragedy has struck at least ten times. A Crack in the Sky by Mark Peter Hughes is just one of the dystopias I plan on reading this summer. I'm just a little over 200 pages, but I haven't picked this one up in days. Z is for Zachariah is apocalyptic (or is it post-apocalyptic?). Regardless, it's been an interesting read so far--all sixty or so pages. I'm about that far along in Lois McMaster Bujold's The Curse of Chalion too. I keep hoping to pick this one back up. Desolation Road by Ian McDonald is reminding me of Cannery Row and Sweet Thursday--in a way. But this one is set on Mars. And now the final book, I'm about 120 pages into Lloyd Alexander's Book of Three.

Great list! Wow, I haven't thought about Lloyd Alexander's books in a long time! I have them on the shelf. I need to get them down, reread them, and get my older two to read them!

ReplyDeleteEvery so often I'll start several at the same time but then I figure if I concentrate - maybe I'll finish ONE faster. And then I get frustrated and start the vicious cycle of self-doubt all over again! =)
I was very clear when I signed up for the Classics Tour that my post would most likely be a progress post about War and Peace, not an I've finished post!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I'm impressed with your ability to keep so much fiction going at once. I can (and do) read quite a few books going at a time--but I generally limit it to only two or at very most three fiction titles. Too much fiction and I get my plots mixed up!
