What Should I Read Next?

Well, I'm a third of the way (or so) through Under the Dome by Stephen King. And I'll likely be in that through the month of January. But as you might have guessed, I never read just one book at a time. And I am looking for some good books--though not necessarily LONG books--to read alongside some of my chunksters. (I'm also reading Woman in White by Wilkie Collins.) So which of these (if any) do you think I should consider reading next?

A. The wind howled and the flames roared, but the books, as they died, merely fell silent.

B. The sun was setting over the Atlantic, and as it ran like molten gold into the waves a girl in a Pod Fighter ripped through the scene like graffiti sprayed across a landscape painting. For a few startled moments, the sun and the sea trembled.

C. The wolf tasted the babe's face with the tip of his tongue and pronounced her sweet, and the fox licked her head to see if it was so. For the rest of her life, when this child grew into a faerie with bright eyes and a laugh as loud and unladylike as a crow's, that spot would never lie flat.

D. Cat puts up his nose to sniff the breath of wind barely filling the sail, and opens his small pink mouth to speak.

A. Libyrinth by Pearl North
B. The Roar by Emma Clayton
C. Dreamdark: Blackbringer by Laini Taylor
D. Raider's Ransom by Emily Diamand

I'm voting for Libyrinth because it has a great first line.

I second that vote for Libyrinth because of that tantalizing first line.

Oh, read Blackbringer, and its sequel, Silksinger. They are fabulous!

I just signed up for Mother Reader's Comment Challenge, and your blog looks great!

I haven't read any of these yet, but I'd love to see what you think of either Libryinth or Raiders Ransom

I just got The Roar in at school -- I haven't read it but it looks really good. I'd love to get your opinion of it. I agree that Libryinth's first line is great so it would be a good choice too.

Tough choice --- either Libyrinth or Blackbringer. Both have great first lines!
