Christine asked a good question, can a book count for more than one category. Since reading 104 middle grade books in one year seems really ambitious for most folks--those that aren't Ms. Yingling--a book can be counted in two categories, but not more than two categories. This allows for *some* overlap. But not to an insane degree.
Charlotte's Web could be counted twice, but not in all these categories:
_ Title beginning with C
_ Title or Author Beginning with V or W
_ Newbery Winner or Honor from 1950-1959
_ Any book by a Wilder Award author
_ American author
_ animal fantasy
_ oh the sads
_ book from your childhood

Oooh, this sounds great! I'm in!
http://jannghi.blogspot.com/2017/10/2018-middle-grade-reading-challenge.html
And I have posed my challenges for next year. Check my blog to see if you are interested.
This challenge sounds awesome! Is it OK to check off multiple categories for a single book if there is overlap? Unlike the picture book challenge, I know I definitely can't read 104 middle grade books in a year! :) I will leave my link once I get my sign-up post posted!
Christine, 104 would be a lot to read in one year. For those that choose, the same book can be counted in two different categories, but not more than two categories.
Thanks Becky -- that seems fair! I'll have to decide if I'm going to do that or not, but I'm definitely joining :)
I'm in for Option 1.

Six books in either option 1 or possibly 3.

OK I'm officially in! You can find my sign-up post here. I'm going for at least 6, but hopefully many more than that :)
This looks like a lot of fun. I'm a homeschooling mom of a middle schooler right now, and still read aloud to him a lot. I'll aim for option 3, I think.

I'm in
I'll give this one a try! I read a fair amount of middle grade books, but certainly not enough to cover all 104 categories. I'm still signing up for the category option, and I'll see how many I can fill in. :) My sign-up post is http://www.smilingshelves.com/home/2018-reading-challenges-sign-up-post.
Sounds great. Here's my link up.
