Suggestion Box

Today is the day that obsessed-Becky escaped confinement and went on a LONG run. In just three or four hours, I have changed my triple-eight list (888 challenge) at least three times. My categories are changing by the hour it seems. My latest--and I hope my last--change was suggested by my mom. She thought a good category would be "8 Recommended Reads" Suggestions from friends and family. While I do have a few friends that read books, most of my reading friends are fellow bloggers. I'd love to hear what these friends have to recommend. Please leave a comment with a suggestion or two if you have a moment!

Have you read The Hollow Kingdom by Clare Dunkle? That's a great read.

Thanks, Erin! I see that they have it on at my local library, so I'll make a point of reading it next year. (That's when the challenge starts.) As mom said, you're not going to start any of these NOW are you? you've got enough to read!

I read The Penderwicks not too long ago and really enjoyed it.

Thanks for stopping by my new blog. I'm looking forward to participating in some of the upcoming reading challenges, and I'm going to look over your reviews for help in finding new books to read. :-)

I will totally never pass up a chance to recommend my favorite book of the year. Have you read Larklight: A Rousing Tale of Dauntless Pluck in the Farthest Reaches of Space? It's just out in paperback and I heart it much. It's steampunk! In kidlit! And has pirates! :D

I second Erin's recommendation for The Hollow Kingdom, as well as its sequels. One book I read recently that I really enjoyed is a character-driven apocalyptic science-fiction book called Spin, by Robert Charles Wilson: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spin_(novel)

I'll add Penderwicks to my list. I have seen it around, and even checked it out of the library once, but checking out two dozen at a time was a bit much. :) But I'll give it another go for the challenge.

Larklight, I have already read. I did enjoy it. There is a second book in the series that came out in 2007. I'm not sure when it was released. Or if it is still forthcoming. But I might read that.

I will definitely make a point of seeing if they have Spin at my library. Apocalyptic science fiction sounds like fun! I'm odd I know :)

Yes, the sequel comes out on October 16th for us (I believe it comes out on the 1st in the U.K.?). The title is Starcross. Spies! Time travel! More Jack. :D

Well, it's obvious I'm excited. :)
