January in Review (First Lines, Top Five)

These are a few of my favorite 'first' lines read in January 2009.

It was a dark, blustery afternoon in spring, and the city of London was chasing a small mining town across the dried-out bed of the old North Sea.

Zeke's tree wouldn't speak to him.

Everyone's seen my mother naked.

The first time I met Mia we ended up in a hotel room by ourselves.

I knew you read a lot but wow Becky. I did read your reviews of Never Let Me Go, because I read it too, and Fanny Hill because I have not. I'm the type that has no interest in sex in books but I was interested in what a Christian person thought of it. You seem good at giving both sides in your reviews, or being objective. I've finished 18 novels this month, one was a graphic fiction (not my cup of tea I fear),and two were doorstoppers so I'm happy. Have a nice February.

My goodness, Becky, that list is about as long as my entire 2008! But I'm not complaining...the more books you read, the more wonderful reviews I get to read! :)
