Library Loot: First Week in September
So, as you can see, I went a little overboard. I decided to add notes this time round. Let me know if you like this behind-the-scenes look, or if you're just as happy with a plain old list. :)
New Loot:
The Forging of the Blade by R.L. LaFevers
Secrets of Grim Wood by R.L. LaFevers
The True Blade of Power by R.L. LaFevers
Note: I'm weak for displays. These books aren't new. I know nothing about them. But they were on display. There had to be a reason for that, right? right?
Whales on Stilts by M.T. Anderson
The Clue of the Linoleum Lederhosen by M.T. Anderson
Note: I picked these two up because Jasper Dash and the Flame Pits of Delaware arrived this morning. I have no idea if these two books are related to the new one or not. But at the very least, it kept the name "M.T. Anderson" fresh in my mind.
Gilda Joyce: Psychic Investigator by Jennifer Allison
Gilda Joyce: The Ladies of the Lake by Jennifer Allison
Note: I've seen this series reviewed by bloggers I trust, like Amanda and Melissa, and Jen. So when I saw it on the shelf--remember I was by the Andersons, M.T.--I had to pick them up.
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi
Note: Picked this one up because it was on display. Well, that and it's on the 'will be/should be' classics list for the Classics Challenge.
Look for Me by Moonlight by Mary Downing Hahn
Note: Leila is so to blame for this one! She reviewed this one for Carl's R.I.P. IV challenge, so I guess he can be blamed too :) This was the *only* book I went in knowing I'd check out. Everything else is impulse.
See No Evil by Jamila Gavin
Rampant by Diana Peterfreund
Discordia by Dena K. Salmon
Note: These three came from the 'new books' display for YA books. I believe all three will work for Carl's R.I.P. IV challenge. I have seen Rampant reviewed in several places--Presenting Lenore, Jocelyn of Teen Book Review, Sharon Loves Books, etc. But the other two are new-to-me.
Ruled Britannia by Harry Turtledove
Note: Though I haven't finished a single Turtledove yet, I like the idea of liking him so much that I keep checking out more of his alternate histories. This one is set during the Elizabethan era. (Just one of my weaknesses.)
1942 by Robert Conroy
Twilight of Avolon by Anna Elliott
We Never Talk About My Brother by Peter S. Beagle
Colonel Brandon's Diary by Amanda Grange
The Secret Diaries of Charlotte Bronte by Syrie James
Darcy's Passions by Regina Jeffers
The Reavers by George MacDonald Fraser
How Do I Love Thee? by Nancy Moser
Note: These eight come from the 'popular books' section of the library. Which is located near the check-out. I have come to think of these as being like candy at the checkout lanes. 1942 is alternate history. Which for some reason or another I seem to be drawn to these days. Twilight of Avalon...it was the name and the cover. This one is a novel of Trystan and Isolde and it just looks lovely. The Beagle, well, I've never read any of his works, but I know bloggers that just love him. So I thought this one was worth my time. The two Austen spin-offs...well, they have a way of either being very, very good or absolutely horrid. I'll let you know how these two measure up.
Secret Diaries of Charlotte Bronte. Well, it just looked fun. Same with The Reavers.
Leftover Loot:
Wait Until Twilight by Sang Pak
The Alchemy of Stone by Ekaterina Sedia
Pistols for Two by Georgette Heyer
The Pirates! In An Adventure With Napoleon by Gideon Defoe
Hitler's War by Harry Turtledove
Opening Atlantis by Harry Turtledove
The United States of Atlantis by Harry Turtledove
A Monster's Notes by Laurie Sheck
The Secret History of the Pink Carnation by Lauren Willig
Scaramouche by Rafael Sabatini
Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs
A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs
Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Eva and Marg that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!

Aww, The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle was probably one of my favorite books when I was younger.
I hope you enjoy it :)
I like the way you've done this post. I enjoy reading about why you picked up the books and where you found out about them, etc. I think you should stick to this method :)
THAT is a load of lovely books. How long is your check-out time? (Not that I have any doubt you'll finish this without incurring the dreaded late fess.)
I actually got two books from that MT Anderson series out two weeks ago, but the first SENTENCE had a comma problem, and it put me off so much I brought them back yesterday. If you read them and like them I'll give 'em another chance (and feel stupid for not reading them the first time).
Looks like a great haul! I look forward to reading your reviews.
Please accept this award I have for you over at my blog! =D

I like the way you've done it this time.
Ruled Britania is a great read. It's also one of the few Turtledove books I've really enjoyed.
I also recognized and loved Twilight of Avalon. If you liked The Mists of Avalon, I'd bet you'll like this one.
I love the fact that you have added notes. I love hearing how books came to be in someone's loot!
I liked the new setup for your library loot post alot!!! And you seriously found some really good books (or at least it looks like it) I can't wait to read your reviews especially for the R.I.P. challenge related ones :)
Wow, that is a lot of books - makes my pile look quite manageable :)
Love the notes.:) L.
