The 24 Hour-Read-A-Thon will be the weekend of April 18th/19th 2009. It will start at noon GMT time. Dewey was *always* so helpful in making sure that little-old-me got it translated properly into Central time. I am *so* challenged when it comes to technical things like that. I *believe* that would be 8AM Central. Please, correct me if I'm wrong :)
It will have its own blog this go round. Sign ups have not begun just yet. I'll try to let you know when they do.

I'm planning to try to participate--it would be my first time! I may just serve as a cheerleader this time around so I can get a feel for how everything works, but we'll see...
I *think* that it would start at 8AM Eastern, therefore 7AM Central, but I'm not 100% sure... I used this web site to check.
The thing that confused me is that it said there was five hours difference for Daylight Savings time and six hours difference the rest of the year. And I know we're in Daylight Savings Time.
I have never participated in one - but it sounds fascinating (only wish it could have been this week when I have been on spring break). If we cannot participate for all 24 hours - can we participate for a portion of the time? I have already put it on my calendar.
Thanks so much for spreading the word, Becky. I'm so glad we can count you in again.
About the time zones, I think it might be a good idea for us to post a list the exact starting time for different time zones...I'll suggest that to Hannah and Trish.
I'm on GMT, and right now we're 5 hours ahead of you. The thing is, we'll be moving our clocks forward an hour on the 29th of March, and you've already moved yours, right? So we'll be 4 hours apart after that? *head explodes*
Worry not...I promise I'll get back to you with a definite answer before the read-a-thon.
And for Molly (sorry for the hijack, Becky!): yes, you can definitely participate for only part of the time. In every read-a-thon, only a small portion of participants actually stay awake the whole 24 hours.
Ah, thanks for clarifying the time zone thing, Nymeth. Didn't realize about your own time change.
BTW, something about your head explodes comment really tickled me. My husband thinks I'm a freak. Maybe it's because I'm picturing that cute little profile picture or something, I don't know, and the "head explodes" came out of nowhere. I must be tired and punchy.
OK, now I'm sorry for hijacking...
The weekend after spring break. Nice planning. I may have to do this. I do like sleep, though!
