I rubbed it between my fingers. Gold! I tugged until it popped loose, then moved to the window for better light. My heart beat faster.
b) Early one morning at the end of April there was pounding on the door to Eric Bear and Emma Rabbit's apartment on brick-red Uxbridge Street.
c) There was a boy who went to bed in despair. All night he dreamed his despair, and he woke to desperation. Then he slept again and dreamed, this time a short, strange dream. He dreamed of a garden gate and someone waiting there.
d) Janie sprints through the snowy yards from two streets away and slips quietly through the front door of her house. And then. Everything goes black.

Fade as well. I LOVED it. Never heard of Amberville though....looks good.

I vote for Fade as well...I haven't been able to get a copy yet, so after reading your review I'll know how quickly to run to get one!
Fade was a page turner! I just finished it and loved it.
I'm going to have to go with Amberville. That has the best start, I think!

c) A Finder's Magic by Philippa Pearce. I love this author, but can't circulate her work, so if you read it, I'll have a better idea of its popularity.
